The determinants of economic transition in Central and Eastern Europe

Celem tej pracy jest analiza uwarunkowań transformacji gospodarczej w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej. Głównym trzonem jest refleksja nad wewnętrzną polityką gospodarczą państw transformujących się. Jest ona przeprowadzana także z uwzględnieniem stanu wyjściowego dla transformacji oraz sytuacji międzynarodowej, która towarzyszyła w czasie przemian państwom regionu. W kolejnych rozdziałach, rozpoczynając od historycznego zarysu systemu socjalistycznego, poprzez faktycznie realizowane w tych państwach działania transformacyjne, podejmuję próbę znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie dotyczące uwarunkowań transformacji oraz skuteczności reform wprowadzanych w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej.

The aim of this piece of work is to analyze the determinants of economic transformation in Central and Eastern Europe. The reflection on the internal economic policies of transition countries is in the center of analysis. It is carried out, taking into account the initial conditions in those countries and the international situation. In subsequent chapters, starting with the historical outline of the socialist system, through the actual transformation activities in these countries, I try to find an answer to the question about the determinants of transformation and the effectiveness of reforms implemented in Central and Eastern Europe.
