A feeling of safety and security among junior high school students in school environment

Praca przedstawia zagadnienia związane z poczuciem bezpieczeństwa młodzieży gimnazjalnej w środowisku szkolnym. W części teoretycznej omówiono pojęcie bezpieczeństwa oraz czynniki warunkujące poczucie bezpieczeństwa. Ponadto ukazano bezpieczeństwo jako elementarną potrzebę każdego człowieka. Zaprezentowano również informacje na temat bezpieczeństwa uczniów w środowisku szkolnym. Przedstawiono czynniki warunkujące bezpieczeństwo uczniów oraz scharakteryzowano obszary zagrożeń – agresję i przemoc rówieśniczą, a także klimat społeczny szkoły. Omówiony został także okres adolescencji młodzieży gimnazjalnej oraz proces formowania ich tożsamości. Część empiryczna niniejszej pracy przedstawia analizę uzyskanych wyników badań własnych przeprowadzonych za pomocą kwestionariuszy ankiety. Celem pracy jest zaprezentowanie poziomu poczucia bezpieczeństwa młodzieży gimnazjalnej w środowisku szkolnym oraz jego uwarunkowań.

The present thesis analyses the problem of the feeling of safety and security in a school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis, in which safety is presented as a basic human need, is concerned with the term security itself, as well as the factors conditioning the feeling of safety and security. Additionally, I put forward the data related to school safety among students. The thesis attempts at observing the factors which condition safety and security among students and investigates the potential areas of hazard, such as aggression and peer violence, as well as the social atmosphere of the school. Furthermore, I discuss the issues pertaining to the period of adolescence and identity formation in junior high school students. The empirical part of the thesis provides the analysis of data gathered in a survey conducted for the purpose of this work. The aim of the present thesis is to establish the level of the feeling of safety and security among junior high school students and enumeratethe crucial factors affecting that level.
