Saudi Arabia's strategic use of cities as a form of soft power in Vision 2030

Wraz z wprowadzaniem w życie Wizji 2030, Arabia Saudyjska rozwija się poprzez transformację gospodarczą, której głównym celem jest zmniejszenie roli przemysłu naftowego i kreowanie swojego wizerunku jako centrum świata arabskiego. Celem pracy jest eksploracja oraz analiza strategicznej roli miast w ramach saudyjskiej polityki soft power w połowie okresu, który został przeznaczony na realizację projektu. Przedmiotem badania jest strategia Królestwa stosowana wobec miasta budowanych w ramach projektu NEOM, w szczególności The Line. Poprzez studium przypadku ukazane zostało,, jak za pomocą megamiast Arabia Saudyjska zwiększa swoją atrakcyjność na arenie międzynarodowej oraz rozwija turystykę miejską.

With the implementation of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is developing through an economic transformation with the main goal of reducing the role of the oil industry and creating its image as the center of the Arab world. The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the strategic role of cities within the Saudi soft power policy in the mid-term of Vision 2030. The subject of the study is the Kingdom's strategy applied to the city built within the framework of the NEOM project, particularly The Line. Through the case study, it is shown how, with the help of megacities, Saudi Arabia increases its international attractiveness and develops urban tourism.
