Influence of technology incubators on regional development on the example of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship

W ostatnich latach w rozwoju polskiej gospodarki istotne miejsce zajmują ośrodki innowacji w przedsiębiorczości. Celem pracy było wskazanie miejsca i roli jednego z typów ośrodków innowacji, czyli inkubatorów technologicznych w aspekcie rozwoju regionalnego, trafność tworzenia tych ośrodków oraz porównanie inkubatorów samodzielnych z tymi, które stanowią element większych jednostek. Opracowanie obejmuje najważniejsze rzeczy związane z pojęciem regionu, rozwoju regionalnego i inkubatorów technologicznych. Część badawcza dzieli się na dwa elementy. Pierwszy z nich to szczegółowa charakterystyka inkubatorów technologicznych położonych na terenie województwa podkarpackiego. Zawiera ona informacje na temat ich powstania, zakresu działalności, prowadzonych szkoleń, doradztwa, usług jak również firm korzystających z ich usług. Dane pozyskane zostały ze stron internetowych badanych ośrodków. Ta część pokazuje jak bogatą ofertę świadczą badane inkubatory i jakie firmy korzystają z ich usług. Drugi element części badawczej zawiera analizę podstawowych zmiennych makroekonomicznych powiatów oraz taksonomicznego wskaźnika rozwoju na podstawie dostępnych danych statystycznych. Na podstawie tej analizy można wysnuć wnioski , że inkubatory tworzone są w powiatach wysoko rozwiniętych aby wzmacniać ich pozycje i konkurencyjność na tle innych oraz że bardziej efektywne są inkubatory samodzielne niż te zlokalizowane w większych ośrodkach.

In recent past years of the development of the Polish economy, entrepreneurship centers have been occupying an important place. The aim of the work was to indicate the place and the role of one of the types of innovation centers, i.e. technology incubators in the aspect of the regional development, the relevance of the creation of these centers and the comparison of independent incubators with those that are part of larger units. The study covers the most important things related to the concept of region, regional development and technology incubators. The research component is divided into two elements. The first one is a detailed description of technology incubators located in Podkarpackie Voivodeship. It contains information about their origin, scope of activities, training, consultancy, services as well as companies that use their services. The data were obtained from the websites of the surveyed centers. This section shows how rich the offer is provided by the surveyed incubators and what companies use their services. The second part of the research section analyzes the basic macroeconomic variables of districts and the taxonomic development index based on available statistics. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that incubators are created in highly developed districts to strengthen their position and competitiveness against other backgrounds, and that incubators independent of those located in larger centers are more efficient.
