The malaria – tropical disease

This dissertation concerns the malaria – tropical disease. The malaria is caused by a protozoan called Plasmodium. This work contains: general information about protozoans and definition of disease. In the dissertation the ways of infection by Anopheles mosquitoes which are malaria vectors are presented. It is described the life cycle of the parasites belonging to the genus Plasmodium that are causal agents of malaria. It is described the world distribution of malaria. The work contains detailed description of symptoms of malaria, characteristics of four species of Plasmodium and different kinds of malaria. The dissertation includes chapter about medicines against malaria. Additionally, in this dissertation the epidemiology of malaria is presented.

Praca dotyczy malarii (zimnicy) – choroby tropikalnej wywoływanej przez pierwotniaki z rodzaju Plasmodium. Zawiera ogólne informacje o pierwotniakach i definicję choroby. Przedstawiono rys historyczny malarii. Opisano sposób zarażenia się chorobą oraz wektory zimnicy. Uwzględniono morfologię i biologię komarów z rodzaju Anopheles, które przenoszą zarodźca malarycznego. Omówiono cykl rozwojowy zarodźca malarii z uwzględnieniem regularnej przemiany pokoleń. Przedstawiono zasięg występowania malarii na świecie. Szczegółowo opisano rozpoznanie i obraz kliniczny choroby. Przedstawiono charakterystykę czterech gatunków pierwotniaków, będących czynnikiem etiologicznym malarii oraz odmienne postacie zimnicy przez nie wywoływane. Dodatkowo umieszczono informacje dotyczące leczenia chorych, wspomniano o lekooporności. Oprócz tego w pracy przedstawiono epidemiologię malarii, a także sposoby zapobiegające jej rozprzestrzenianiu się.
