Strategic management in capital groups in the energy sector on the example of the PGE Capital Group Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A.

Celem pracy jest analiza strategiczna Grupy Kapitałowej PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. Grupy kapitałowe tworzone są w celu zwiększenia wartości przedsiębiorstw oraz są szansą na ich przetrwanie i rozwój. Zarządzanie strategiczne grupą kapitałową jest złożonym procesem. Najważniejszym aspektem zarządzania jest budowa i implementacja strategii w przedsiębiorstwie. Rola strategii jest bardzo istotna w branży energetycznej – jednej z kluczowych gałęzi gospodarki w Polsce. W teoretycznej części pracy omówiono istotę funkcjonowania grup kapitałowych. Omówiono klasyfikację, przyczyny tworzenia, oraz przebieg rozwoju struktur kapitałowych w Polsce. Przedstawiono szczegółowo istotę strategii w procesie zarządzania, a także omówiono proces budowy i implementacji strategii. W empirycznej części pracy scharakteryzowano sektor energetyczny w Polsce oraz dokonano analizy strategicznej GK PGE. Podstawą dokonanych analiz były sprawozdania finansowe oraz sprawozdania zarządu firmy w latach 2007-2013, dane statystyczne Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego, rozporządzenia Ministerstwa Gospodarki, PEP 2030, oraz dyrektywy UE. Analiza strategiczna wykazała, że sytuacja Grupy jest stabilna i wiarygodna. Firma posiada potencjał rozwojowy. Potwierdzają to bardzo dobre wyniki finansowe, wysokie nakłady inwestycyjne, 40% udział w rynku wytwarzania oraz 30% udział w rynku sprzedaży energii elektrycznej.

A strategic analysis of the PGE Capital Group is a purpose of the work. Capital groups are a chance of surviving and the development of enterprises. The strategic management is complex process in capital groups. A structure and an implementations of the strategy are the most important aspect of the management in the company. The role of the strategy is very significant in the energy industry - one of the crucial branch of economies in Poland. In the theoretical part of the work functioning of capital groups was discussed. Classification, reasons for creating and the course of the development of capital structures in Poland were discussed. The strategy in the process of managing and construction and implementation process of the strategy were described in detail. In the empirical part of the work an energy sector in Poland was characterized. The strategic analysis of the Capital Group GK PGE was done. Financial statements and reports of the company management board in years 2007-2013, statistical data, regulation of the ministry of economy, PEP 2030, and directives of the EU were a base of made analyses. The strategic analysis showed that the situation of the Group was stable. The company has developmental potential. The situation is confirmed by very good financial results, high investments, 40% the market share of the production and the 30% market share of the sale of the electric energy.
