Sexualisation of children and youth in media. Analysis of the phenomenon on the examples of minor music stars.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie zjawiska seksualizacji dzieci i młodzieży w mediach. Uwaga została poświęcona młodym gwiazdom muzyki, co zostało uwidocznione na przykładach dwóch piosenkarek – Roksany Węgiel i Miley Cyrus.Aby przedstawić na czym polega tytułowe zjawisko nakreślone zostały przemiany społeczne oraz postrzeganie miejsca dziecka w różnych epokach historycznych. Ponadto scharakteryzowane zostały media i ich rola, a także cechy kultury masowej i kultury obnażania.Charakterystyka dzieci w obliczu seksualizacji pomogła ukazać stosunek mediów do piosenkarek Roksany Węgiel i Miley Cyrus, które w młodym wieku odniosły sukces w karierze muzycznej. Obie niejednokrotnie były ocenianie przez redakcje, głównie zajmujące się śledzeniem życia celebrytów, w kategoriach zazwyczaj odnoszących się do osób dorosłych.

The aim of this thesis is to present sexualisation of children and youth in media. Young music stars were the object of interest and it has been represented on the examples of two singers – Roksana Węgiel and Miley Cyrus.To present the eponymous phenomenon social changes and the perception of child’s role in different historical eras were pointed out. Furthermore, media and its role as well as mass culture and striptease culture were outlined.Children’s characteristics in the face of sexualisation has helped to show the attitude of the media towards singers – Roksana Węgiel and Miley Cyrus. Both of them succeeded in the music career in the young age and they were repeatedly judged by various editors, mostly concerned about celebrities’ lives, in the categories usually referring to adults.
