ADAPTACJE FILMOWE JAKO ODZWIERCIEDLENIE TENDENCJI KRYTYCZNYCH DANEGO OKRESU – NA PRZYKŁADZIE ADAPTACJI FILMOWYCH DUMY I UPRZEDZENIA JANE AUSTEN

Praca analizuje różne ekranizacje Dumy i Uprzedzenia, ich cechy charakterystyczne a także różne sposoby adaptacji tekstu w celu znalezienia związków między filmami i okresami, w których zostały one stworzone. Praca ukazuje , że adaptacja filmowa jest odzwierciedleniem tendencji krytycznych obecnych w danym okresie. Duma i Uprzedzenie Roberta Leonarda (1940) z udziałem Laurence'a Oliviera a także adaptacja filmowa Joe Wrighta (2005) z udziałem Keiry Knightly są przedmiotem pracy. Zarówno powieść jak i wymienione filmy są ze sobą porównane, koncentrując się na elementach filmowych oraz na cechach kulturowych danego okresu, które mogą mieć wpływ na produkcję filmu i realizację jej poszczególnych etapów.

This thesis traces film adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, their characteristics and different ways of adapting the text in order to find the connections between the films and the periods in which they were created. It proves that the adaptation is a reflection of a critical and ideological trend present in the given period. Robert Leonard’s Pride and Prejudice (1940) starring Laurence Oliver and Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice (2005) starring Keira Knightly are the material of the research. The novel and the above films are compared and contrasted, focusing both on the film elements and on the cultural characteristics of the given period, which may have an influence on the film production and the realization of its particular sequences.
