Niniejsza praca magisterska koncentruje się na tematyce rozwoju komiksu francusko-belgijskiego na przestrzeni lat. Praca podzielona jest na 3 części. Część pierwsza dotyczy problematyki definiowania komiksu oraz rozważań na temat jego konstrukcji. Część druga skupia się na historycznym przebiegu rozwoju komiksu od analizy na temat momentu jego powstania aż po XXI wiek. Poza komiksem francusko-belgijskim krótko przedstawiona jest również ewolucja komiksu amerykańskiego oraz japońskiego. Duża część pracy poświęcona jest współczesnemu komiksowi, zmianom dokonującym się na rynku komiksowym oraz postrzeganiu dziewiątej sztuki przez społeczeństwo francuskie. Trzecia część pracy to analiza fenomenu powieści graficznej. Skupiono się tu na problemie zdefiniowania tego czym jest powieść graficzna oraz na analizie jej pochodzenia a także jej wpływu na sztukę komiksową. W konkluzji dokonano krótkiego przedstawienia i analizy powieści graficznej Michela Kichki „Drugie pokolenie: czego nie powiedziałem mojemu ojcu.”

This masters thesis focuses on the development of the Franco-Belgian comics over the years. The work is divided into 3 parts. The first part concerns the issues of defining the comics and considerations about its construction. The second part focuses on the historical course of the development of the comics, from an analysis of the moment of its creation to the XXIst century. In addition to the Franco-Belgian comics, the evolution of the American and Japanese comics is also briefly presented. A large part of this work is devoted to contemporary comics, changes taking place on the comic market and the perception of the ninth art by the French society. The third part of the thesis is an analysis of the phenomenon of the graphic novel. It is focused on the problem of defining what a graphic novel is and on analyzing its origin and its impact on the comics. The conclusion is a brief presentation and analysis of the graphic novel by Michel Kichka “Second Generation: The things I didn’t tell my father.”

Ce mémoire de maîtrise porte sur le sujet du développement de la bande dessinée franco-belge au fil des années. Le mémoire est divise en 3 parties. La première partie concerne les problèmes de définir la bande dessinée et les considérations relatives à sa construction. La deuxième partie est consacrée au développement historique de la bande dessinée, de l’analyse du moment de sa création jusqu’au XXIe siècle. En addition à la bande dessinée franco-belge, l’évolution de la bande dessinée américaine et japonaise est aussi brièvement présentée. Une grande partie de ce travail est consacrée à la bande dessinée contemporaine, à l’évolution du marché de la bande dessinée et à la perception du neuvième art par la société française. La troisième partie consiste à une analyse du phénomène du roman graphique. Nous nous concentrons sur le problème comment définir le roman graphique et sur l’analyse de son origine et son impact sur la bande dessinée. La conclusion est une brève présentation et une courte analyse du roman graphique de Michel Kichka « Deuxième génération : ce que je n’ai pas dit à mon père. »
