Finds of components of medieval military crossbows from Poland

Praca dotyczy odkrytych na terenie Polski elementów średniowiecznych kusz bojowych. Jej celem było zebranie dostępnych danych na temat znalezisk, ich uporządkowanie oraz przeprowadzenie analizy umożliwiającej zestawienie nowych informacji z wnioskami starszych opracowań. Opublikowane zabytki zestawiono w katalogu, uzupełniając dane o nowe pomiary części obiektów. Artefakty poddano analizie uwzględniającej ich wymiary, cechy konstrukcyjne, zastosowane materiały, miejsca odkrycia, konteksty chronologiczne i przestrzenne. Analiza pozwoliła wyróżnić pewne tendencje wśród podobnie datowanych artefaktów, doprecyzować ich datowanie oraz w niektórych przypadkach zrewidować tezy stawiane w starszych pracach

The paper concerns elements of medieval military crossbows discovered in the territory of Poland. Its aim was to collect available data on the finds, organize them, and conduct an analysis that would allow new information to be compared with the conclusions of earlier studies. Published artefacts were compiled in a catalogue, with the data supplemented by new measurements of some objects. The artefacts were analysed with regard to their dimensions, construction features, materials used, find locations, as well as chronological and spatial contexts. The analysis made it possible to identify certain tendencies among similarly dated artefacts, refine their dating, and in some cases revise the theses put forward in earlier works.
