Poverty districts of the cities in Latin America

Praca przedstawia problematykę ludności ubogiej zamieszkującej duże miasta Ameryki Łacińskiej. W pierwszym rozdziale zawarta jest charakterystyka pojęcia "kultury ubóstwa", jego etymologia i znaczenie, także przedstawienie w jaki sposób odróżnia się od wcześniejszych ujęć w badaniu biedy, biorących pod uwagę jedynie aspekty ekonomiczne. Ponad to w tej części zawarte zostało stanowisko Oscara Lewisa, będącego twórcą pojęcia. W następnym rozdziale zaprezentowana została ogólnie problematyka zjawiska ubóstwa na świecie, a w następnej części jego wymiar w regionie Ameryki Łacińskiej. Tak w ujęciu światowym jak i regionu latynoameryki ukazany został też ważny aspekt jakim jest urbanizacja i ogólny rozwój miast. W dalszej kolejności opisywane zostały dzielnice ubóstwa w ujęciu historycznym oraz pod względem problemów społecznych które je cechują. scharakteryzowano również ich mieszkańców, przedstawiono ich najbardziej typowe zachowania i problemy. W ujęciu bardziej szczegółowym zaprezentowano dzielnice ubogiej ludności miejskiej na przykładach Meksyku i jego stolicy Ciudad de Mexico, oraz Brazylii i Rio de Janeiro. W tej części zawarto typowe dla danych miast problemy takie jak problem narkotyków czy przemocy i korupcji. W podsumowaniu zawarto wnioski o problemie ubóstwa i konieczności walki z nim w wymiarze międzynarodowym.

MA thesis concerns the matter of impecunious part of society living in Latin America.In first chapter the meaning of “impecunious culture” is raised, it’s etymology and the meaning, also the difference in case study for the previous researches, taking into account only economical aspects. Also in this chapter was included position of the Oscar Lewis, who’s the creator of this meaning. In next chapter was presented the general issues of poverty around the world, and in part two of the second chapter it’s assessment in Latin America. As in world terms and in regional latin American were shown the important aspect which is the urbanization and evolution of the cities. Subsequently where described poor districts in historical terms also in respect of social problems that it’s characterized by. There were also characterized their inhabitants, which show their most typical behavior and problems.In terms more specific where show districts of impecunious socjety in example of Mexico and it’s capital Ciudad de Mexico, also Brazil and Rio de Janeiro. Im that part were placed typical for those cities problems which are drugs, or violence and coruption.In summary we will find conclusions about the poverty problems and the necessity of fighting it in international dimension.
