Poniższa praca ukazuje wpływ emocjonalny ataków na World Trade Center na Amerykanów i Nowojorczyków. Aby ukazać te oddziaływania, analizie zostały poddane artykuły z nowojorskiego dziennika, jakim jest „The New York Times”. Jego publikacje stanowią szerokie źródło analizy, z tego chociażby względu, że podejmują wiele aspektów, związanych z wpływem emocjonalnym na ludzi, wywołanym przez ataki z 11 września. Kolejno przedstawione zostały problemy i zagadnienia takie, jak odzyskiwanie niezależności po ataku na World trade Center, chwile samej katastrofy i powiązane z nią akcje ratunkowe, które w większości odniosły porażkę, a także rodzące się u Nowojorczyków i Amerykanów emocje, związane z nadzieją i wiarą w odnalezienie zaginionych pod gruzami ludzi. Ponadto, w dalszej części pracy ukazane zostały relacje świadków tego zdarzenia, osób, biorących w nim udział, czy innych w jakiś sposób biorących udział w tej katastrofie. Następnym punktem analizy jest raport Pew Research Center, który został opublikowany 5 września 2002 roku. Przedstawia on wiele aspektów emocjonalnych, związanych z atakami na World Trade Center, które zostały przebadane, i które mają wpływ na Nowojorczyków, jak i Amerykanów. Ostatnią część pracy stanowi analiza dwunastu okładek „The New Yorkera”. Zostały one specjalnie wyselekcjonowane, a następnie opublikowane z okazji dwunastej rocznicy zamachu. Pokazują ewolucję mentalną Nowojorczyków i Amerykanów, a także szeroki wachlarz emocji, jaki towarzyszył im w tym momencie. Zamykający aspekt pracy stanowi zakończenie, zawierające wnioski oraz podsumowujące dotychczasową analizę.

The following work shows emotional impact of the World Trade Center attack on Americans and New Yorkers. To show this impacts, articles from "The New York Times" have been analysed. These publications are a wide source of examination, because they deal with many aspects, connected with emotional impact on people, caused by the 11 September attack. Consecutively, issues and terms, such as regaining independence after World Trade Center attack, moments of the catastrophe and rescue operations, which were mostly unsuccessful have been included, as well as arising emotions in New Yorkers and in Americans, related to hope and faith in finding missing people under the rubble. Moreover, the next part of the work shows accounts of witnesses of 11 September attack, accounts of people that were taking part in this catastrophe and accounts of others that were somehow involved in the attack. The following point of analysis is the Pew Research Center report, which was published on September 5, 2002. This report shows many emotional aspects, that have been studied and affect New Yorkers and Americans in the context of World Trade Center attack. The last part of the work is analysis of twelve "The New Yorker" covers. They were specially selected and published on the ocassion of the twelfth anniversary of the attack. These covers shows mental evolution of New Yorkers and Americans, as well as the wide range of emotions and feelings that were present at these particular moments. The closing aspect of the thesis is the conclusion, which includes outcomes and summary of the previous analysis.
