Teachers' attitudes towards symptoms of depression in students

Praca dotyczy postaw nauczycieli wobec zaburzeń nastroju u dzieci i nastolatków. W pierwszym rozdziale zaprezentowane zostały kluczowe elementy aktualnej wiedzy o depresji u dzieci i młodzieży. W drugim rozdziale dokonano przeglądu naukowych ujęć konstruktu „postawa” oraz określono elementy wzorcowej postawy nauczyciela wobec ucznia z objawami depresji. W trzecim rozdziale omówiono założenia metodologiczne badań własnych oraz objaśniono koncepcję badań, ich metody i narzędzia badawcze. Przeprowadzony sondaż różnił się od standardowych badań tego typu tym, że wymagał od respondentów odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące opisu trzech różnych, ale podobnych do siebie przypadków, w których przedstawiono uczniów przejawiających poważne zaburzenia nastroju. Zebrany materiał badawczy analizowany był najpierw metodami ilościowymi a następnie jakościowymi. Wnioski końcowe zawierają charakterystykę kilku typów postaw, jakie udało się wyodrębnić w badanej populacji.

The work concerns teachers' attitudes towards mood disorders in children and adolescents. The first chapter presents key elements of current knowledge about depression in children and adolescents. The second chapter reviews scientific approaches to the "attitude" construct and identifies the elements of a teacher's exemplary attitude towards a student with symptoms of depression. The third chapter discusses the methodological assumptions of the author's research and explains the research concept, methods, and tools. The survey differed from standard studies of this type in that it required respondents to answer questions regarding the description of three different but similar cases in which students with severe mood disorders were presented. The collected research material was analyzed first using quantitative and then qualitative methods. The conclusions include the characteristics of several types of attitudes identified in the studied population.
