Autobiographical aspects of Tove Jansson’s work

Praca skupia się na przedstawieniu autobiograficznego aspektu dzieł fińskiej artystki Tove Jansson pt. Córka rzeźbiarza, Uczciwa oszustka i Kamienne pole oraz opowiadań zawartych w zbiorze Wiadomość. W pierwszej części autorka skupia się na przybliżeniu pojęcia autobiograficzności i powieści autobiograficznej. W drugiej przedstawia życiorys Tove Jansson, w szczególności zaznaczając jej ambiwalentny stosunek do Muminków oraz sławy, którą jej przyniosły. Trzecia część stanowi interpretację wybranych utworów Jansson, w których pisarka przedstawia swoje życie i stara się odzyskać tożsamość artystki, która została jej odebrana, a jednocześnie dekonstruuje narzuconą jej przez odbiorców tożsamość Mamy Muminków.

This paper focuses on presenting autobiographical aspects of the novels by the Finnish artist Tove Jansson: Sculptor's Daughter: A Childhood Memoir, The True Deceiver and Stenåkern (The Field of Stones), as well as of stories included in the collection Meddelande (Messages: Selected Stories 1971–1997). In the first chapter, the author focuses on presenting the concept of autobiographicity and autobiographical novel. In the second chapter, the author presents biography of Tove Jansson, emphasizing her ambivalent attitude towards the Moomins and the fame they brought her in particular. The third part is an interpretation of selected works by Jansson, in which the writer presents her life and tries to regain identity of an artist that was taken from her, and at the same time deconstructs the identity of mother of Moomins imposed on her by the audience.
