Artykuł stanowi pierwszą próbę w miarę kompleksowego nakreślenia dziejów i rangi jednego z najważniejszych polskich periodyków z zakresu geografii - "Czasopisma Geograficznego". Jako tekst przeglądowy artykuł ten prezentuje złożoną historię "Czasopisma", ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem początkowych okresów jego funkcjonowania. Przedstawiono w nim wszystkie blaski i cienie obserwowane w działalności pisma, podkreślono brutalny wpływ decyzji politycznych na chwilowy upadek znaczenia periodyku w latach 50. XX w. Zwrócono uwagę na aktywność kolejnych redaktorów, wybitnych geografów, którym udało się przywrócić "Czasopismu" należne mu miejsce w geografii polskiej i światowej. Treści tego opracowania autorzy zaprezentowali na Kongresie Geografii Polskiej w Poznaniu 1 czerwca 2023 r.

The article is the first attempt to comprehensively outline the history and importance of one of the most important Polish periodicals in the field of geography, "Czasopismo Geograficzne", focusing on the first half of its functioning. As a review, it shows the complex history of the journal, with particular emphasis on its initial operating period. It presents all the pros and cons observed in the journal activities, and emphasises the brutal impact of political decisions on the temporary decline in its importance in the 1950s. It draws attention to the activity of subsequent editors, outstanding geographers who managed to restore the journal to its rightful place in Polish and world geography. The authors presented the content of this study at the Polish Geography Congress in Poznań on June 1, 2023.
