How much of Leśmian is in Leśmian? Two poems of the poet in English translations

Celem tej pracy była analiza dwóch utworów Bolesława Leśmiana w przekładzie na angielski. Język ten bowiem do dziś opiera się bujnej florze poetyckiej poety, plącze melodię jego słów, spłyca głębie przekazu i ściąga tę wyjątkową poezję na ziemię. A jednak tłumacze "mdłej nie poddają się żałobie" i wciąż podejmowane są kolejne próby. Ile jednak jest w nich z Leśmiana? To właśnie chciałam sprawdzić, analizując tłumaczenia „Dziewczyny” pióra Paula Coatesa, Sandry Celt, Janka Langera i Marii Gral oraz „Piły” autorstwa Mariana Polaka-Chlabicza.

The aim of this study was to analyze two poems written by Bolesław Leśmian in their English translation. To this day, this language resists the lush poetic flora of the poet, ravels the melody of his words, diminishes the depths of the message and brings this unique poetry down to earth. Yet the translators "do not yield to the dim mourning" and more and more attempts are made. But how much of Leśmian is in those translations? This is what I wanted to find out by analyzing "The Girl" of Paul Coates, Sandra Celt, Janek Langer and Maria Gral along with "The Saw" of Marian Polak-Chlabicz.
