Unit in society - the influence of the environment on the characters of Roman Polanski's films (on selected examples).

Dlaczego Andrzej i chłopak z „Noża w wodzie” podjęli ze sobą psychologiczną grę? Dlaczego Carol Ledoux bez skrupułów zamordowała Colina, mężczyznę który obdarzył ją uczuciem? Aż w końcu dlaczego Trelkowski zmienił się w Simone Choule? Na wszystkie te pytania będę starał się odpowiedzieć w kolejnych rozdziałach tego tekstu. Moim celem jest ukazanie jak znaczący wpływ ma na bohaterów filmów Romana Polańskiego otaczający ich świat, wpływ który nierzadko prowadzi do tragedii. Życie reżysera stawiało go często w sytuacjach, kiedy musiał dostosowywać się do otaczającego go świata, dlatego uważam, że odczytywanie jego filmów pod tym względem jest jak najbardziej trafne. Analizie poddam trzy filmy reżysera: "Nóż w wodzie", "Wstręt" oraz "Lokatora". Analizując każdy film będę starał się ukazać w jaki sposób Polański kreuje główne postacie w swoich filmach, w jaki sposób odnajdują się one w społeczeństwie, jakimi są osobami, oraz dlaczego ulegają sugestiom otaczających ich osób. Każdy z wybranych przeze mnie filmów podejmuje różne typy oddziaływania na siebie jednostek. W „Nożu w wodzie” będzie to rywalizacja dwóch mężczyzn, w której tle pozostawiona zostaje postać kobiety. „Wstręt” ukażę jako analizę strachu towarzyszącego cierpiącej na chorobę psychiczną Carol, przed utratą ostatniej ostoi spokoju jaką jest dla niej jej siostra Helen. Aż w końcu spróbuję dotrzeć do przyczyn przez które Trelkowski, bohater „Lokatora” ulega wpływowi mieszkańców kamienicy i staje się Simon Choule.

Why did Andrzej and the boy in "Knife in the Water" bring a psychological game together? Why did Carol Ledoux unscrupulously murder Colin, the man who gave her the feeling? Until in the end why Trelkowski changed into Simone Choule? For all these questions I will try to answer in subsequent chapters of this text. My goal is to show how influential Roman Polanski's characters are around the world, an influence that often leads to tragedy. The director's life often put him in situations where he had to adjust to the world around him, so I think his reading of the film in this respect is most appropriate. The analysis will include three films by the director: "Knife in the Water", "Repulsion" and "Tenant." By analyzing each film I will try to show how Polanski creates the main characters in his films, how they are found in the society they are and why they are suggested by the people around them. Each of the films I select takes different types of interactions with each other. In "Knife in the Water" will be the rivalry of two men, in which the background is left a woman figure. "Repulsion" will appear as an analysis of the fear of accompanying mental illness Carol, before losing the last resting peace she is with her sister Helen. Until I finally try to reach the cause by which Trelkowski, the hero of the "Tenant" is affected by the residents of the tenement and becomes Simon Choule.
