Evaluation of the relationship between the father's age at the moment of conception and the child health in population of Beskid Wyspowy

Wymiary noworodka mogą wpływać na jego kondycję po urodzeniu, dlatego tak ważna jest kontrola wszystkich czynników, które mogą powodować zbyt małe lub zbyt duże wymiary urodzeniowe ciała. Wiek ojca w momencie zapłodnienia może mieć wpływ na masę urodzeniową i długość ciała dziecka. Należy podkreślić, że nie tylko wiek, ale także wcześniejszy styl życia ojców wpływa na zdrowie poczętego dziecka.Celem pracy jest dokonanie ilościowej oceny zależności wieku mężczyzny w momencie zapłodnienia, a stanem zdrowia dziecka po urodzeniu. Do analizy włączono 379 ojców z bazy danych uczestników projektu „Mogielica XXI” przeprowadzonego w Beskidzie Wyspowym. Uwzględniono dane 838 dzieci, dla których można było określić masę ciała, długość ciała oraz wiek ojca w momencie zapłodnienia. W celu statystycznego opracowania danych wykorzystano oprogramowanie STATISTICA 10.Wykazano zależność pomiędzy wiekiem ojca w chwili zapłodnienia, a masą urodzeniową dziecka oraz długością ciała, z uwzględnieniem czynnika zakłócającego jakim jest wiek matki w chwili poczęcia. Dowiedziono także, iż wśród badanych nie ma zależności pomiędzy wiekiem ojca w chwili zapłodnienia, a obwodem głowy i klatki piersiowej noworodka, oraz liczbą punktów w skali Apgar.Część rezultatów potwierdza zależność kondycji potomstwa od wieku ojca. Konieczne są dalsze badania naukowe poruszające ten problem.

The size of the newborn correlates with its condition after birth, thus it is very important to control factors that may predispose to too small or too large postnatal size of the body.The age of the father at the time of conception has an impact on birthweight and length of the child. It should be noted that not only the age, but also the earlier father's lifestyle affects the health of the children. The aim of this study is to test the relationship between the age of man at the moment of conception and the health of the child after birth.The analysis included 379 fathers from the database of the participants of the project „Mogielica XXI”. The study included 838 children, whose body mass, body length and the age of the father at the time of conception were known. For the statistical analysis of the data STATISTICA 10 software was used. Among the men from Beskid Wyspowy the significant relationship between paternal age at the time of conception and the birthweight birth length was found (after controlling in the analyses for the mother's age at conception). There is no relationship between the father’s age at the time of conception and circumference of head and chest of the newborn as well as the number of points in the Apgar score. Results of this study partially confirm the prediction that condition of offspring depends on the age of the fathers. Further scientific research on this issue is necessary.
