The figure of the femme fatale in Wladyslaw Reymont and Giovanni Verga: a comparison between Jagna and Lupa (The She-Wolf)

W pracy porównano kobiece postacie Jagny Władysława Reymonta i La Lupy Giovanniego Vergi. Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Moim głównym celem jest uwypuklenie różnic i podobieństw między dwójką głównych bohaterek, zarówno z perspektywy włoskiej, jak i polskiej kultury i mentalności. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiam motyw femme fatale oraz rolę społeczną kobiet w XIX i XX wieku. W drugim rozdziale prezentuję postać Giovanniego Vergi, największego propagatora weryzmu. W trzecim rozdziale skupiam się na postaci polskiego pisarza Władysława Reymonta i jego najsłynniejszym dziele pt. "Chłopi". Ostatni rozdział przynosi analizę porównawczą obu postaci kobiecych. Metoda, którą się posługuję, opiera się na teorii porównawczej.

The thesis compares the female figures of Jagna by Władysław Reymont and La Lupa by Giovanni Verga. The thesis consists of four chapters. My main goal is to highlight the differences and similarities between the two main protagonists, both from the perspective of Italian and Polish culture and mentality. In the first chapter I present the theme of the femme fatale and the social condition of women in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In the second chapter I present the figure of Giovanni Verga, the greatest exponent of Verismo. In the third chapter, I focus on the figure of the Polish writer Władysław Reymont and his most famous work "Chłopi". The last chapter brings the analysis between the two female figures. The method I use is based on comparative theory.

La tesi mette in confronto le figure femminili di Jagna di Władysław Reymont e La Lupa di Giovanni Verga. La tesi è composta da quattro capitoli. Il mio obiettivo principale è quello di evidenziare le differenze e le analogie tra le due protagoniste principali, sia dalla prospettiva della cultura e della mentalità italiana che quella polacca. Nel primo capitolo presento il tema della donna fatale e della condizione sociale della donna nel XIX e XX secolo. Nel secondo capitolo delineo la figura di Giovanni Verga, il maggior esponente del Verismo. Nel terzo capitolo, invece mi concentro sulla figura dello scrittore polacco Władysław Reymont e la sua opera più famosa, intitolata “Chłopi” [I contadini]. L’ultimo capitolo è dedicato all’analisi comparata delle due figure femminili. Il metodo da me utilizzato è quello comparato.
