Capital punishment in postmodern world - between taboo and commonness

Niniejsza praca dotyczyć będzie zagadnienia kary śmierci żywo dyskutowanego na wielu płaszczyznach, jej roli w filozofii, religii i prawodawstwie. Poruszony zostanie także temat śmierci w ogóle, jej znaczenia i wymiaru w ponowoczesnym świecie. Motywacją stała się obecna i wiecznie żywa dyskusja na temat zasadności kary śmierci. Dyskusja, która nabiera mocy przy okazji istotnych wydarzeń politycznych, uderzających w bezpieczeństwo narodu, ale również społecznych, godzących w jednostki, najczęściej bezbronne i słabe. Zaostrzający się dyskurs na powyższy temat i brak konsensusu sprawił, że podjęta została w niniejszej pracy próba usystematyzowania zagadnienia kary śmierci i odniesienia jej do pojęcia śmierci jako takiej w ponowoczesnym świecie.

This paper will address the issues of the death penalty live discussed on many levels, its role in philosophy, religion, and legislation. Will deal with the topic of death in general, its meaning and dimension in the postmodern world.The motivation has become a present and ever-lively discussion on the merits of the death penalty. Discussion, which takes effect on the occasion of important political events impacting the security of the nation, but also social, affecting the individual, most vulnerable and weak. Aggravating the discourse on this subject, and the lack of consensus meant that was taken in this paper an attempt to systematize the issue of the death penalty and relating it to the concept of death as such in the postmodern world.
