Monumental manor houses and palaces as a part of tourist attractiveness of suburban area of Krakow.

Dwór i pałac pozostają w krajobrazie polskim symbolem ziemiaństwa. Wielowiekowe obiekty rezydencjonalne utożsamiane są z ostoją tradycji, patriotyzmu i głęboką wiarą chrześcijańską. Dwór pełnił trzy podstawowe funkcje, był: domem mieszkalnym, siedziba przedsiębiorstwa ziemskiego oraz obiektem reprezentacyjnym rodu.Podjęto próbę usystematyzowania wiedzy na temat strefy podmiejskiej Krakowa, jej rozwoju i funkcji, uwarunkowań fizyczno-geograficznych, kulturowych oraz możliwości rozwoju turystyki. Pond to zdefiniowano pojęcie dworu i pałacu oraz scharakteryzowano obraz tych obiektów w Polsce na przełomie wieków.Badania do pracy zostały przeprowadzone na terenie strefy podmiejskiej Krakowa w skład której wchodzą gminy znajdujące się w odległości 20-25 km od centrum Krakowa, tj. od dworca PKP i PKS. W 2011 roku przeprowadzono inwentaryzację w 25 obiektach rezydencjonalnych, dzięki której pozyskano informacje na temat historii, obecnej funkcji i perspektyw rozwoju danych obiektów.Przestrzenne rozmieszczenie dworów i pałaców w strefie podmiejskiej Krakowa wpływa na dynamiczny rozwój turystyki kulturowej w regionie oraz na ożywienie gospodarcze lokalnej społeczności.

A manor house and a palace are symbols of a landed gentry in Polish landscape. Centuries-old residential buildings are associated with tradition, patriotism and profound Christian faith. A manor house had three basic functions, as it was a dwelling house, the seat of landed enterprise and a stately building of a family. In this thesis the first attempt was made to systematize the knowledge about the suburban areas of Krakow, its development and functions, landform and geographical features, cultural features as well as the possibilites of tourist development. Moreover, the concepts of a manor house and a palace were defined and depiction of such buildings in Poland at the turn of centuries was characterized. The research was conducted in the area of the outer suburbs of Krakow. This area consists of districts that are in vicinity of 20-25 km from Krakow, i.e. from the main train and bus station. In 2011 an inventory, which contained 25 residential buildings , was made. Due to this research a lot of information about history, present usage and prospects for development of those buildings was collected. Spatial arrangement of manor houses and palaces in the outer suburbs of Krakow has had influence on dynamic development of cultural tourism in the region as well as on economic revival of the local community.
