THE ANALYSIS OF UGLINESS CATHEGORY'S FUNCTIONS AID FOR CHOSEN COMPOSITIONS OF LITERATURE AND ART

Autor pracy magisterskiej prowadzi refleksję na temat funkcji, jakie pełni brzydota w literaturze i sztuce na podstawie wybranych przez siebie przykładów. Pierwszy rozdział rozprawy dotyczy kwestii udziału omawianej kategorii w kreacji świata przedstawionego dzieła. Druga część pracy stanowi tytułową analizę poszczególnych funkcji brzydoty w literaturze i sztuce. Przedmiotem rozważań są następujące właściwości: Aspekt kontemplacyjny, moralizatorski, satyryczny, karykaturalny, a także czysto turpistyczny. W trzecim rozdziale autor prowadzi rozważania na temat udziału negatywnej kategorii estetycznej w twórczości Charlesa Bukowskiego i Nikifora. Czwarta część pracy dotyczy psychologicznego aspektu brzydoty w filmach grozy i gore oraz w obrazie malarskim Williama Stonehama pt. "The hands resist him" ("Ręce go odrzuciły)". Piąty rozdział jest podsumowaniem całości rozważań. Autor porusza w nim kwestię źródeł atrakcyjności brzydoty dla twórców literatury i sztuki. Przedmiot rozważań stanowi także przyczyna fascynacji odbiorców, skierowanej ku omawianej kategorii.

The author of master's thesis considers reflection about the functions which ugliness serves in literature and art base on examples chosen by himself. First chapter of treatise concerns the issue of parcitipation of discussed cathegory in the creation of world showed in composition. The second part of thesis comprise to titled analysis of individual functions of ugliness in literature and art. The subject of advisements are following properties. The comptemplative aspect, the moralistical aspect, the satirical aspect, the caricatural and strictly martuary. In third part, author considers reflections about parcitipation the negative, esthetic cathegory in output of Charles Bukowski and Nikifor. The fourth part of thesis concerns psychological aspect of ugliness in horror and gore films and paint picture of William Stoneham titled "The hands resist him". Fifth chapter is summary of completness of considerations. The author raises the matter of sources of attractiveness of ugliness for literature's and art's makers. The subject of considerations comprises also the cause of viewer's fascination, which is directs to discussed cathegory.
