The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry from a perspective of contemporary XXIst century didacticism. Literary text versus film adaptation

Niniejsza praca poświęcona została problematyce skonfrontowania tekstu literackiego Mały Książę Antoine’a de Saint-Exupéry’ego (1942) z jego współczesną adaptacją filmową, mianowicie filmem animowanym w reżyserii Marka Osborne’a (2015). Głównym celem było wykazanie, w jakim stopniu dzieło Mały Książę jest znane wśród dzisiejszej młodzieży, czym umotywowany jest jego współczynnik popularności oraz która forma (oryginał książkowy czy film animowany) wydaje się odbiorcom bardziej przystępna. Innym ważnym pytaniem badawczym była kwestia kryteriów, na podstawie których dzisiejsze młode pokolenie odbiorców wartościuje Małego Księcia i to, w jaki sposób przyswaja jego treść.

The hereby work has been devoted to the issue of confronting the literary text of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1942) with the book’s contemporary movie adaptation, namely an animated movie directed by Marek Osborne (2015). The main research goal was to analyze as to what extent the work of The Little Prince is known among contemporary school youth and what are the possible reasons that define its popularity. Another important aspect of the analysis was the case of the probable criteria, with which modern young generation in Poland rates the work The Little Prince, and furthermore, the topic of how teenagers today associate with the work’s content and didactical message.
