Abstract in English
This article analyses Edward Redliński’s novel Nikiformy (Nikiforms), which is treated as a literary equivalent to the readymade in the visual arts. Lead by Redliński’s own understanding of Duchamp, as presented in the introduction to the two editions of his novel, the readymade is treated as a cultural text, with Redliński’s literary neo-avant-garde experiment being viewed as social critique. At the same time, the article reflects on the role of such an experiment, rooted in the avant-garde, in the context of Polish culture in the 1970s and 1980s.
