English-Polish and Polish-English glossary of confectionery terminology with commentary and translation analysis

Podstawą pracy jest specjalistyczny angielsko-polski i polsko-angielski glosariusz terminologii z branży cukierniczej. Poprzez jego stworzenie autorka ma na celu usprawnienie pracy tłumaczy w zakresie tłumaczeń specjalistycznych. Dziedzina glosariusza została wybrana, ponieważ po przeanalizowaniu rynku autorka stwierdziła, że brakuje takiej pozycji. Podczas tworzenia glosariusza wykorzystane zostały istniejące źródła, własna wiedza autorki, a także wiedza innych ekspertów z tej dziedziny. W pracy autorka zawarła komentarz składający się z trzech części – opis branży cukierniczej w Polsce jak i w innych krajach anglojęzycznych, wybrane podstawy teoretyczne tworzenia słownika/glosariusza oraz część analityczną, obejmującą sposób powstania tego konkretnego glosariusza, charakterystykę jego terminologii oraz analizę wybranych napotkanych trudności lub ciekawostek.

The basis of the thesis is a specialist English-Polish and Polish-English glossary of terminology in the confectionery industry. By creating it, the author aims to improve the work of translators in the field of specialist translation. The field of the glossary was chosen because, after analysing the market, the author found that there was a lack of such an item. In compiling the glossary, existing sources, the author's own knowledge, as well as the knowledge of other experts in the field were used. In the thesis, the author has included a commentary consisting of three parts - a description of the confectionery industry in Poland as well as in other English-speaking countries, selected theoretical background for the creation of the dictionary/ glossary, and an analytical part, covering how this particular glossary was created, a characterisation of its terminology and an analysis of selected difficulties or curiosities encountered.
