Jan Wels of Poznań : professor of the University of Cracow and his last will

Jan Wels z Poznania 9zm. 17 IV 1498) był profesorem Uniwersytetu Krakowskiego, lekarzem, wychowawcą synów króla Kazimierza Jagiellończyka, fundatorem kościoła św. św. Piotra i Pawła na Garbarach (wówczas przedmieście Krakowa) i okalającego go cmentarza. Artykuł zawiera biografię Welsa i dzieje jego fundacji. Dołączono do niego dwa aneksy źródłowe. Pierwszy to edycja zapiski z księgi konsystorza krakowskiego dotyczącej darowizny ziemi pod cmentarz przez Imbrama Salomona. Drugi to edycja testamentu Jana Welsa z oryginalnego dokumentu kardynała Fryderyka Jagiellończyka ze zbiorów Archiwum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego.

Jan Wels of Poznań (death April 17, 1498) was a professor of the University of Cracow, a physician, tutor of the sons of King Casimir IV Jagiellon, and founder of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Garbary (then a suburb of Cracow) and the cemetery surrounding it. The article contains the biography of Wels and the history of his foundation. It includes also two source annexes. The first is an edition of an entry from the Cracow consistory book regarding Imbram Solomon's donation of land for the cemetery. The second is an edition of Jan Wels' last will from the original document of Cardinal Frederick Jagiellon from the collection of the Jagiellonian University Archives.
