The portrayal of Jesus Christ in filmography based on "The Last Temptation of Christ", "The Passion of the Christ" and "The Chosen"

Celem pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na miejsce i sposób formowania się kulturowego obrazu Jezusa Chrystusa oraz przeanalizowanie poszczególnych wizerunków zawartych w filmografii. W pierwszym rozdziale rozwinę teoretyczne zagadnienie tematu, przybliżając obecny stan badań oraz historię przedstawień Chrystusa w kulturze. Omówię w skrócie gatunki filmowe dotyczące narracji biblijnej. Przybliżę również twórców omawianych przeze mnie tekstów kultury, czyli: Martina Scorsese’a, Mela Gibsona oraz Dallasa Jenkinsa. W rozdziale drugim, skupię się już na konkretnych scenach z wybranej filmografii. Zwrócę uwagę na sposób budowania postaci, zarówno poprzez wygląd zewnętrzny, związany z powierzchownymi cechami urody, jak i sposobem ubierania się, a także charakter i działania przez postać podejmowane. W rozdziale trzecim zestawię ze sobą wszystkie trzy teksty kultury w celach porównawczych, próbując również odpowiedzieć na pytanie, jak poszczególne przedstawienia wypadają na tle współczesnej chrystologii, przytaczając jeden z najnowszych dokumentów Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego.

The aim of this study is to draw attention to the place and manner of forming the cultural image of Jesus Christ and to analyse individual images contained in the filmography. In the first chapter, I will develop the theoretical framework of the topic, presenting the current state of research and the history of representations of Christ in culture. I will briefly discuss film genres related to biblical narrative. I will also introduce the creators of the cultural texts I discuss: Martin Scorsese, Mel Gibson, and Dallas Jenkins. In the second chapter, I will focus on specific scenes from the selected filmography. I will highlight the character's construction, both through appearance, related to superficial beauty traits, and clothing, as well as the character's character and their actions. In the third chapter, I will compare all three cultural texts, also attempting to answer the question of how each representation compares to contemporary Christology, citing one of the Roman Catholic Church's most recent documents.
