Memory of the State of Israel's history, its meaning in the selected works of Israeli writers: Amos Oz and David Grossman, and the perception of their meaning by the Arab readers

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie perspektywy arabskiego czytelnika co do wspomnień oraz przekonań wybranych autorów żydówskich wobec powstania państwa Izraela, jak i jego wpływie na Palestyńczyków. Jednocześnie celem pracy jest ukazanie roli jaką odgrywa pamięć po obu stronach konfliktu izraelsko-palestyńskiego, która kreuje obraz strony przeciwnej jako jako nieskłonnej do autoreflekji, czy też uwzględnienia opinii strony przeciwnej.Praca została podzielona na trzy rodziały. Pierwszy rozdział koncentruje się na przedstawieniu w możliwie bezstronny sposób historii Mandatu Palestyny, jako kluczowego momentu deterioracji relacji arabsko-żydowskich w kontekście powstania państwa Izraela. Poruszona zostaje również kwestia uchodźców palestyńskich bedących ofiarami konfliktu izraelsko-palestyńskiego, jak i również podejście państwa Izraela oraz państw arabskich wobec tejże grupy. Drugi rozdział omawia opinie arabskich czytelników o książce Amos Oza zatytułowanej "Opowieść o miłości i mroku". Uwaga zwrócona zostaje przede wszystkim na argumenty czytelników odnośnie zaprezentowanej przez autora idei tożsamości żydowskiej, jak i czynników historycznych, które przyczyniły się do starań w utworzeniu państwa żydowskiego. Co więcej, przeanalizowane zostały opinie czytelników na temat poruszanych przez Oza wydarzeń historycznych z okresu Mandatu. Trzeci, ostatni rozdział skupia się na książce Dawida Grossmana pod tytułem: "Yellow Wind", jak i zdań arabskich czytelników co do jej przekazu. Analizie poddana została prezentowana przez autora idea tego, jak działania rządu Izraela wobec Palestyńczyków mają negatywny wpływ na społeczeństwo izraelskie. W zakończeniu zawarte zostały najważniejsze wnioski.

The aim of this work is to show an Arab reader's perception of memories, and convictions held by the selected Jewish authors with regards to the creation of the State of Israel, as well as its effects on the Palestinians. Simultaneously, the goal is to display the role of memory on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which contributes on each side to painting the other as unwilling to introspect, and consider other side's point of view.This work has been divided into three chapters. First chapter is mainly focused on presenting, in the most unbiased way, the history of Mandate of Palestine as a key moment in the rise of tensions between Arabs and Jewish people related to the creation of the State of Israel. This chapter also deals with the subject of Palestinian refugees, whom are considered to be the victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, mentioning also the State of Israel's and Arab nations' attitudes towards them. Second chapter discusses the opinions of the Arab readers on the Amos Oz's book titled: "The Tale of Love and Darkness". The attention is drawn to the readers' arguments about the idea of Jewish identity and the historical aspects, which have contributed to the aspirations of building the Jewish state, as presented by the author. Whatsmore readers' opinions on the historical events from the Mandate period discussed by the author, have been analyzed. Third and final chapter is concerned with David Grossman's book titled: "Yellow Wind", as well as the commentaries of Arab readers regarding its message. The idea of the Israeli state's actions towards the Palestinians negatively impacting the Israeli society have been analyzed in this chapter also. Ending part contains the most important conclusions.
