The history of Jews and the history of education occupy marginal spaces within historical research while developing as distinct disciplines. Jewish studies are characterized by their interdisciplinarity, and the history of education is explored not only by historians but also by educators seeking historical antecedents to contemporary educational challenges. Education of Jews has been examined byboth educators and historians, yet it has consistently remained a marginal area of interest. This situation has led to the persistence of several harmful trends in research, resulting in significant gaps in knowledge and hindering in-depth analysis, thereby distorting the understanding of education as a whole. In this article, I identify these trends and illustrate, using research on Galicia as an example, how a broader inclusion of Jewish and Judaic studies can transform the approach to studying education. Additionally, as recent studies on the history of universities have shown, expanding this perspective holds significant social importance.
