„Sklepy cynamonowe” Brunona Schulza w tłumaczeniu Doreen Daume. Studium nad przetłumaczalnością konstrukcji czasu i przestrzeni

Bruno Schulz’s “The Cinnamon Shops” translated by Doreen Daume. Translatability of the construction of time and space

Praca magisterska bada przetłumaczalność na język niemiecki konstrukcji czasu i przestrzeni wykreowanych przez Brunona Schulza w cyklu opowiadań „Sklepy cynamonowe“ na podstawie nowego tłumaczenia tego dzieła, którego autorką jest Doreen Daume. W części pracy poświęconej konstrukcji czasu określono historyczny czas zdarzeń, omówiona została koncepcja czasu mitycznego, która jest przejawem schulzowskiego programu mityzacji rzeczywistości oraz scharakteryzowane zostały dwie, dające się wyróżnić w świecie przedstawionym formy czasu — czas ‘pełni’ i czas ‘pustki’. W części poświęconej ukształtowaniu przestrzeni zwrócono uwagę na fakt, że przestrzeń w „Sklepach cynamonowych” jest kategorią subiektywną oraz nazwano i scharakteryzowano dwa główne motywy przestrzenne wraz z ich interpretacjami — motyw labiryntu oraz motyw przestrzeni zamkniętej. Przetłumaczalność konstrukcji czasu i przestrzeni zbadana została w oparciu o porównawczą analizę wybranych fragmentów oryginału i ich niemieckojęzycznych tłumaczeń.

This master’s thesis examines translatability of the construction of time and space into German language created by Bruno Schulz in his short story collection “The Cinnamon Shops” on the basis of the new Doreen Daume’s translation. The paper studies how Schulz presents time and space of the action. The thesis determines the historical time of action and analyzes Schulz’s concept of the mythical time and the phenomenon of the ‘empty’ and the ‘full’ time. It proves that space is a subjective category. In the thesis there are characterized also two main spatial themes — the maze and the motive of a closed space. The question of translatability of the construction of time and space is answered on the basis of a comparative analysis of selected fragments of the original and their German translations.

Die Magisterarbeit erforscht die Übersetzbarkeit der von Bruno Schulz in seinem Erzählzyklus „Sklepy cynamonowe“ kreierten Zeit- und Raumkonstruktion in die deutsche Sprache aufgrund der neuen Übersetzung von Doreen Daume — „Die Zimtläden“. Im Teil der Arbeit, der die Zeitgestaltung betrifft, wird die historische Handlungszeit bestimmt und die Konzeption der mythischen Zeit wird besprochen. Darüber hinaus werden zwei Formen der Zeit analysiert, die sich in der dargestellten Welt der Erzählungen unterscheiden lassen: die ‚leere‘ und die ‚volle‘ Zeit. Im Teil, der der Raumgestaltung gewidmet wird, wird darauf Aufmerksamkeit gelenkt, dass der Raum im Werk von Schulz eine subjektive Kategorie ist. Außerdem werden zwei räumliche Motive besprochen — das Motiv des Labyrinths und des geschlossenen Raums, sowie ihre Interpretationen werden geliefert. Die Übersetzbarkeit der Zeit- und Raumkonstruktion wird aufgrund der vergleichenden Analyse der ausgewählten Passagen aus dem Original und ihrer deutschen Übersetzungen untersucht.
