Władysław Żeleński's opera "Goplana" regarding the tradition of Polish Romanticism

Celem pracy licencjackiej było wskazanie miejsca opery "Goplany" Władysława Żeleńskiego na tle epoki. Pierwszy rozdział stanowi wprowadzenie, określa cel pracy i stań dotychczasowych badań. W rozdziale drugim opisano stan opery polskiej po Moniuszce (najważniejsi kompozytorzy, ich dzieła, tematyka i tendencje operowe panujące w drugiej połowie XIX wieku). Następnie omówiono dzieła Żeleńskiego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego twórczości operowej. Zasadniczym celem pracy był rozdział trzeci. W nim dokonano analizy opery "Goplana" pod kątem wpasowania się w światopogląd romantyzmu polskiego. Na wybranych przykładach zbadano język muzyczny i związek treści libretta z tekstem dramatu "Balladyna" Słowackiego.Czwarty rozdział stanowi podsumowanie pracy.

The aim of the Bachelor Thesis was to indicate the place of the Władysław Żeleńskis opera "Goplana" on the background of the romantic period. The first chapter is an introduction and defines the purpose of the thesis and summarizes the state of research.The second chapter describes the state of Polish opera after Moniuszko (the most important composers, their works, the subject matter and trends of the opera in the second half of the nineteenth century). Then, Żeleńskis list of works was discussed with particular emphasis on his opera works.The main aim of the work is the third chapter. It is an analysis of the opera "Goplana" paying special attention to place the work into the worldview of Polish Romanticism. The musical language and the relationship between the libretto and the text of Słowacki`s drama "Balladyna" was studied for selected examples. The fourth chapter is a summary of the thesis.
