Gromadzenie, udostępnianie, ochrona zbiorów i komputeryzacja są nieodłączną częścią działalności biblioteki. W obecnych czasach, żeby sprostać podstawowym czynnościom wykonywanym w bibliotece kwalifikacje pracownika często wykraczają poza typowe umiejętności zdobyte na studiach i do tej pory wymagane w tym zawodzie. W referacie zostały opisane kwalifikacje jakie musi posiadać pracownik biblioteki zajmujący się tworzeniem repozytorium instytucjonalnego. W Bibliotece Jagiellońskiej tego typu baza to nie tylko archiwum dokumentów wytworzonych na uczelni, ale również wirtualny magazyn egzemplarza obowiązkowego wpływającego do biblioteki na podstawie Ustawy z dnia 7 listopada 1996 r. o obowiązkowych egzemplarzach bibliotecznych (Dz.U. 1996, nr 152, poz. 722) oraz Rozporządzenia Ministra Kultury i Sztuki z dnia 6 marca 1997 r. Pracownik zajmujący się obsługą tego typu danych poza umiejętnościami związanymi z katalogowaniem dokumentów musi posiadać wiedzę na temat obowiązującego prawa autorskiego, edycji graficznej dokumentów cyfrowych, technologii informacyjnych i komunikacyjnych, edycji stron internetowych oraz projektowania stron www (web designer, UI/UX designer).

Collecting, sharing, protection of collections and computerization are an integral part of the activities of the library. Currently, in order to meet the basic activities performed in library, the employee qualifications often must be beyond the typical skills gained in college and previously required in this profession. The paper describes the qualifications that must have a library employee involved in the project of institutional repository creation. In the Jagiellonian Library database of this type is not only an archive of documents produced at the university, but also virtual reading room of the legal deposits entering to the library according to the Act of 7 November 1996 on the compulsory library copies (OJ 1996, No. 152, item. 722) and the Regulation of the Minister of Culture and Art of 6 March 1997. Employee involved in the handling of such data, outside of the skills related to cataloging the documents, must also have knowledge about the applicable copyright law, graphical editing of digital documents, information and communication technologies and also editing and designing of the web pages (web designer, UI/UX designer).
