abstract in English:
The row of Deesis in Iconostasis of the Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lviv About the Deesis Layer of Iconostasis from the Dormition Church of Our Lady in Lviv Iconostasis from the Church of Dormition of the Our Lady in Lviv, after the transfer in 1767 to the Church of St. Cosma and Damian in Veliki Gribovichi was incomplete, and the preserved icons were rearranged. Researchers repeatedly tried to reconstruct its original shape and program, but no one was involved in the analysis of the Deesis layer. This article attempts to re-establish its original order. The identification of the apostles was helped by the indication of the patterns used in their painting by Mykola Petrachnowycz. These were engravings by the Dutch graphic artist Hieronymus Wierix, based on a composition by Martin de Vos. A comparative analysis with other iconostases preserved in the Ruthenian lands, especially of St. Paraskeva Church in Lviv and the Holy Spirit Church in Rohatyn, allowed the apostles to be arranged in the right order. Changes in relation to the original layout of the Deesis layer are shown in the diagrams. Additionally, stylistic and iconographic changes introduced by Petrachnowycz in the representation of apostles in Lviv's iconostasis were discussed.
