From the very fi rst steps new coaches are taught a way of shaping coaching sessions based on the GROW method. We argue that this approach ignores all variety of situations that pose a risk of crisis. In the situation where a coachee wants a change in his/her life but does not know what exactly he/she wants to change. On the basis of Transactional Analysis we propose different strategies both regarding contracting the session with a coachee (soft contract) and work during session (Adult - Adult relation).
