The following article focuses on the Facebook profiles of selected Polish national and regional daily newspapers. The aim of the study is to analyse the extent of the use of the medium by the press. The study involves a content analysis of the posts published on the profiles, the thematic scope of the posts, as well as on the analysis of the language style of the posts, with particular consideration of the functional and discursive layer of the messages. The article presents the most typical structures of the posts, as well as the most frequent discourse strategies used. The study proves that the materials published on the profiles focus on social themes and news of regional events. In the language of the posts, interactivity, informality as well as expressiveness are particularly visible. The nature of the content and the language style prove that the platform is used predominantly as a tool of promotion and presentation of the
newspaper’s offer.
