Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie najważniejszych powodów historycznych, dla których kastylijski od połowy XIII wieku stał się językiem urzędowym w Królestwie Kastylii i Leonu, wyprzedzając o pół wieku Francję i Anglię. Konsekwencją wprowadzenia castellano drecho, terminu użytego przez samego króla Alfonsa X Mądrego, jest normatywizacja i homogenizacja starohiszpańszyzny.

The main aim of this paper is to present the most important historic reasons for which Spanish, since the mid-thirteenth century, became an official language of the Kingdom of Castile and Leon, beating the half century France and England.
