The article analyses polish novel "Płóg i Kindżał" by Wanda Pawlik, published in 1973. The literary studies with elements of cultural anthropology examines the image of Afghans in the context of the book. The author set forward questions about the presence of stereotypes in the novel, but also shows discerning observation of the Afghan nation presented on the pages of the story, introduced by polish writer, who had never been in Afghanistan. The inverted perspective shows the attitude of „the Other” towards polish citizens, but also describe the nature of Afghanhood in the eyes of the natives.
