abstract in English:	The article presents the most important modifications in models of universities, especially in Poland, in comparison with other countries. It considers demographic pressure and also the growing competitiveness on the educational market. The text depicts the beginning of universities and their development as well, including changes introduced nowadays and visions for the future. The biggest challenge is connected with preparing the solution leading to higher quality of education and research.
