Wyniki ankiety wykazały niedostateczną wiedzę o probiotykach u badanych studentów medycyny (polskich i zagranicznych), stomatologii (polskich i zagranicznych), pielęgniarstwa oraz nowego kierunku – dietetyki.
abstract in English:
Interest in „live microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amount confer a health benefit on the host” has been on a dramatic rise since the 1990’s of the last millennium. These microorganisms are used in probiotic preparations in the form of dietary supplements, in food, also for infants, and some are registered as drugs. Is the more common use parallel with understanding of probiotics? For this purpose in the academic years 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 a 5 MCQ questionnaire study was performed on the students participating in classes at the Chair of Microbiology, Jagiellonian University Medical College in Cracow. 986 persons participated in the study. The results show big knowledge gaps in the studied groups of students: medical (polish and foreign), dentistry (polish and foreign), nursing and new course for future dieticians. In order to improve that knowledge a broad educational campaign is needed no only at the university level but also on the internet.
