This thesis is an analysis of Eurypides' tragedy "Troian Women" in terms of the ruin motif. The interpretation of the drama contains thorough study of the presented world describing Troy as an alegory of ruin and the Troian Women. as ancient tragic heroines. The author of the thesis undertakes the risk of explaining the original texts with modern cathegories of understanding the problems connected with anthropological aspects of grieve, despair and melancholy. The psychoanalitic context introduced in the thesis is a good language instrument helpful for the new lecture of the tragedy.
