In this article, the Toulmin Model of Argument was adapted in order to describe prototypical disposition as it works in French dissertation. Two kinds of modifications had to be introduced : 1) first the terminology had to be adapted ; usually in the French exercise, Toulmin’s “warrants” are kept implicit. Moreover, in a dissertation, Toulmin’s “datas” are traditionally called “arguments” as soon as they’re oriented to a conclusion ; 2) to describe a whole text the argumentative cell had to be multi-plied more than divided into components. We could then observe how that prototypical disposition structures reading procedures.
