dc.abstract.pl Głównym celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie sylwetek kobiet w powieści Jacka Kerouaca W drodze. W swojej pracy, najpierw przedstawiam pokolenie bitników oraz ich główne cechy charakterystyczne, skupiając się również na sytuacji kobiet w latach 50. XX wieku. Następnie przechodzę do analizy powieści koncentrując się na przedstawieniu głównych postaci, zarówno męskich jak i żeńskich, oraz rzeczywistych osób będących ich inspiracją. Przybliżam także szczegółowy opis bohaterek W drodze oraz sposób w jaki są one przedstawiane i postrzegane przez mężczyzn. Co więcej, skupiam się na problemie marginalizacji oraz uprzedmiotowienia kobiet w powieści, popierając moje argumenty krytyką feministyczną. Prezentuję także wnioski, podsumowując jednocześnie rolę kobiet w życiu bitników w powieści. pl
dc.abstract.en The main aim of my dissertation is to present depiction of women in Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road. Firstly, I depict the Beat Generation and its major characteristics, at the same time focusing on the position of women in the 1950s. Then, I proceed to the novel and introduce the central male and female figures as well as their real-life counterparts. Thereafter, I present a detailed description of female characters and the way they are depicted and perceived by men in the novel. Moreover, I also concentrate on the aspects of marginalization as well as objectification of women in On the Road, supporting my arguments with feminist criticism. Finally, I draw the conclusion accounting for the role of females in the lives of male Beat characters in the novel. pl
