Celem pracy było pokazanie kształtowania się motywu metamorfozy w Balladach i romansach Adama Mickiewicza. Badania dotyczące pojawiania się tego motywu są bardzo solidne i dokładne - interesowano się tym aspektem twórczości i śledzono późniejszy jego rozwój w innych dziełach. Pierwszy rozdział jest ukazaniem drogi, jaką przebył poeta w celu zebrania materiału do swych utworów. Wskazuje się na trzy źródła, które stały się podstawą dla twórczości Mickiewicza. Ojczyzna, w której spędził dzieciństwo, uczelnia, Towarzystwo Filomatów - były to miejsca, które zaznaczają się wyraźnie w jego biografii i mają istotne znaczenie dla powstania ballad. Każde z tych źródeł zawierało w sobie pewną ilość materiału z którego potem czerpał poeta. Kolejne dwa rozdziały zajmują się analizą treści ballad magicznych - dokonujące się metamorfozy mają w sobie pierwiastek cudowności. Określany zostaje typ przemian, jakie zachodzą w wyglądzie i zachowaniu bohaterów. Zasadniczym podziałem było rozróżnienie na ballady w których przemiany miały charakter zewnętrzny - dotyczący zmian widocznych oraz wewnętrzne, które powodowały zmiany w psychice bohatera. Szczególnie częste odwołania mają związek z folklorem, na którym poeta bazował. Elementy zawierające w sobie wierzenia i podania ludowe było zasadniczą częścią ballad. Ostatni rozdział skupia się na wskazaniu utworów, w których kontynuowany jest motyw metamorfozy w dalszej twórczości Mickiewicza. Zaznaczone zostaje odejście od elementów cudownych i wątków wziętych z folkloru, a skierowanie się w stronę przemian wewnętrznych. Poeta kreuje w swych dziełach postacie, które podlegają przeobrażeniu, najczęściej na płaszczyźnie światopoglądowej. Nie występują tu już postacie z ludowych wierzeń - następuje odejście od fantastycznych zdarzeń. Badacze w swych pracach zauważyli istotny wpływ mitów starożytnych na kształt ballad - to tam pojawiły się pierwsze zmianki o ludziach, którzy zmieniali swój wygląd. Później ten motyw był kontynuowany przez innych autorów. Mickiewicz powiązał przemiany z opowieściami wiejskiej ludności, które opowiadały o spotkaniach ze stworzeniami świata nadprzyrodzonego. Podkreślano, że istoty te miały wpływ na życie ludzi i występowały na różnych obszarach wsi - domowe, leśne, wodne, bagienne. Istnieje wiele klasyfikacji i dokładne opisy ich wyglądu oraz ocena, czy ich zachowanie miało pozytywny czy negatywny wpływ na ludzi. Wierzenie w duchy i inne istoty powodowało mnożenie się opowieści dotyczących różnych zdarzeń z ich udziałem, których świadkami byli ludzie. Motyw metamorfozy jest ciągle żywy w literaturze, nadal mamy do czynienia z bohaterami, którzy się zmieniają. Nie jest to już jednak spowodowane czarami czy klątwami, jak w folklorze, lecz przeżyciami, jakich doświadczyli.

The aim of this study was to show the development of the theme of metamorphosis in ballads and romances Adam Mickiewicz. Research on the occurrence of this theme are very solid and accurate - were interested in that aspect of creativity and its development was followed later in other works.The first chapter is a manifestation of the road traveled by the poet in order to gather material for his works. Reference is made to three sources, which became the basis for the work of Mickiewicz. Homeland, in which he spent his childhood, university, Philomath Society - these are the places which are clearly indicated in his biography and are essential for the emergence of ballads. Each of these sources contained the certain amount of the material from which he drew poet.The next two chapters deal with the analysis of the content ballads of magic - the metamorphosis taking place are an element of the miraculous. Described is the type of changes taking place in the appearance and behavior of the characters. The main division was a distinction between ballads in which the changes were external - referring to the changes visible and internal, which caused a change in the psyche of the hero. In particular, frequent references are associated with folklore, where the poet was based. Components containing in itself the beliefs and folklore was an essential part of ballads.The final chapter focuses on the identification of works in which the theme of metamorphosis continues in further works of Mickiewicz. Marked is a departure from the miraculous elements and themes taken from folklore, and to target the internal changes. The poet creates characters in his works, which are subject to transformation, most often on the ideological plane. There are already here characters from folk belief - following the departure of fantastic events.The researchers in their work noticed a significant influence on the shape of the myths of ancient ballads - it first appeared there zmianki about people who changed their appearance. Later this theme was continued by other authors. Mickiewicz tied transformation of the rural population with stories that told of encounters with creatures of the supernatural world. It was emphasized that these creatures have an impact on people's lives and occurred in different areas of the village - home, forest, water, marsh. There are many classifications and detailed descriptions of their appearance and to assess whether their behavior had a positive or negative impact on people. Belief in ghosts and other creatures resulted in a proliferation of stories on different events with their participation, as witnessed by the people.Theme of metamorphosis is still alive in the literature, we still have to deal with heroes who are changing. It is no longer, however, due to witchcraft or curses, as in folklore, but experiences, they experienced.
