Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie autorytarnego charakteru rządów sanacji w Polsce w latach 1926 – 1939. Po dokonaniu przez marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego zamachu stanu w 1926 roku, władzę w Polsce obejmuje obóz sanacyjny, na którego czele stoi sam Józef Piłsudski. Zamch majowy kończył okres demokracji parlamentarnej w Polsce i był początkiem rządów autorytarnych. Autorytarny charakter władzy jest widoczny na kilku płaszczyznach, którym są poświęcone poszczególne rozdziały pracy. Rozdział pierwszy zawiera teoretyczne rozważania na temat zjawiska autorytaryzmu, definicję pojęcia autorytaryzmu oraz ukazuje jego główne cechy. W rozdziale drugim ukazany został autorytarny charakter rządów w Polsce na płaszczyźnie ustrojowej. Poświęcony jest on ogólnej sytuacji politycznej po zamachu stanu w 1926 roku oraz ukazuje niedemokratyczny charakter konstytucji kwietniowej z 1935 roku. Trzeci rozdział zawiera opis mechanizmów wykorzystywanych w celu zwalczania opozycji politycznej oraz autorytarnego charakteru życia politycznego w Polsce po zamachu stanu. Ostatni, czwarty rozdział skupia się na sytuacji panującej w Wojsku Polskim, kierowanym przez Józefa Piłsudskiego. Zawiera opis polityki personalnej oraz stanowi próbę scharakteryzowania kondycji polskiej armii w latach 1926-1939.

The aim of this work is to show the authoritarian nature of political regime of the Sanation political movement in Poland in the years 1926-1939. After Marshal Jozef Pilsudski's coup d'état in 1926, power in Poland was taken over by Sanation, headed by the same Jozef Pilsudski. The May Coup d'État ended the period of parliamentary democracy in Poland and also was the beginning of authoritarian regime in Poland. The authoritarian nature of power is apparent on several levels, which are devoted to individual chapters of the work. The first chapter contains a theoretical reflection on the phenomenon of authoritarianism, the definition of authoritarianism and shows its main features. In the second chapter has shown the authoritarian nature of governance in the country on the level of political system. It is devoted to the political situation after the coup in 1926 and shows the undemocratic nature of the April Constitution of 1935. The third chapter contains a description of the mechanisms used to fight against political opposition and authoritarian nature of political life in Poland after the coup. Last, the fourth chapter focuses on the situation in the Polish Army, led by Jozef Pilsudski. Contains a description of personnel policy and an attempt to characterize the condition of the Polish army in the years 1926 to 1939.
