Author begins this essey with the presentation of the basic knowledge concerning sexual parts, explanations of such concepts as stereotypes, expressive functions and instrumental functions. In following distributions he analyses the picture of the man in the culture and he reflects what consequences have for men, women and children created patterns. Author reflects which models of the virility qualify the culture in which we live. The essential part in the formation of women and men’s behaviour patterns play media which deliver active cultural examples.It does not stay also without the influence on the fixation of connected partitions with the sex. In this work he would like to analyse forms of influence exerted by the present coloured press. This work presents analysis of contemporary influences exerted by the coloured press. Contemporary colored newspaper (Logo, Mean's Health and Wprost) was treated as a mirror reflecting trends in contemporary society. The author identifies two patterns of masculinity presented in the press: a man's career focused on traditional self-centered and modern man, and relationship with loved ones.The author doesn’t take the changes in the perception of modern man as a crisis but as a sign of a positive transformation.

Pracę rozpoczyna prezentacja podstawowej wiedzy dotyczącej ról płciowych, wyjaśnienia pojęć takich jak stereotypy, kategoryzacja, funkcje ekspresyjne i funkcje instrumentalne. W kolejnym rozdziale autor analizuje obraz mężczyzny w kulturze oraz zastanawia się jakie konsekwencje mają dla mężczyzn, kobiet i dzieci kreowane wzorce. Autor przedstawia modele męskości, określające kulturę w której współcześnie żyjemy. Istotną rolę w kształtowaniu wzorów zachowań kobiet i mężczyzn odgrywają media, które przekazują w sposób aktywny wzory kulturowe, co nie pozostaje także bez wpływu na utrwalanie podziałów związanych z płcią. W tejże pracy przeanalizowane zostały formy wpływów wywierane przez współczesną prasę kolorową.Współczesna prasa kolorowa (Logo, Mean's Health oraz Wprost) została potraktowana jako zwierciadło odbijające trendy panujące we współczesnym społeczeństwie. Autor wyodrębnia dwa wzorce męskości przedstawiane na łamach prasy: mężczyzna tradycyjny skoncentrowany na karierze, oraz mężczyzna nowoczesny, skoncentrowany na sobie i relacjach z bliskimi. Zmiany zachodzące współcześnie w postrzeganiu mężczyzny, autor przyjmuje za przejaw pozytywnej transformacji, a nie kryzysu męskości.
