abstract in Polish:	STRESZCZENIE W niniejszej pracy odnoszę się do zagadnienia nonsensu literackiego, oraz trudności, jakie utwory należące do tego gatunku sprawiają tłumaczom. W centrum mojego zainteresowania stawiam kwestię możliwych sposobów radzenia sobie z tłumaczeniem nonsensu. Praca jest oparta na analizie utworów należących do angielskiego nonsensu literackiego oraz ich tłumaczeń na język polski. Pierwszy rozdział stanowi analizę pojęcia nonsensu, także w odniesieniu do zagadnień sens oraz znaczenie. W tej części pracy badam czym jest znaczenie oraz sens oraz jaka jest ich rola w komunikacji językowej. Następnie przechodzę do rozważania czym jest nonsens oraz co określa nonsens jako gatunek literacki. Wreszcie, podaję krótki zarys historyczny nonsensu literackiego wraz z opisem twórczości wybranych twórców. Rozdział drugi pracy magisterskiej skupia się całkowicie na nonsensie literackim od strony lingwistycznej. Poruszam tu kwestię zabiegów literackich, których użycie skutkuje wrażeniem nonsensu oraz badam płaszczyzny językowe, na których zabiegi mają miejsce. W rozdziale trzecim oraz czwartym przenoszę uwagę na zagadnienie zasad teorii tłumaczeń oraz ich zastosowania w tłumaczeniu nonsensu. Skupiam się głównie na badaniu fragmentów utworów należących do gatunku nonsensu literackiego oraz ich tłumaczeń, na podstawie czego wyciągam wnioski dotyczące kwestii które należy brać pod uwagę tłumacząc nonsens. Ostatni fragment mojej pracy stanowi zestawienie fragmentów utworów wybranych twórców angielskiego nonsensu literackiego oraz ich tłumaczeń na język polski, z których niektóre posiadają kilka wersji.
abstract in other languages:	ABSTRACT In this dissertation I address the issue of literary nonsense and the difficulties which works belonging to this genre pose to translators. My central concern is the question of how one might approach the translation of nonsensical elements. The thesis is based on English nonsense texts and their Polish translations. My first chapter comprises an analysis of nonsense and it’s relation to sense and meaning. In this part of my work I examine what meaning and sense are and what role they play in language. Next, I research what nonsense exactly is and what constitutes nonsense as a literary genre. Finally, I give a brief account of the history of literary nonsense, including descriptions of the writings of chosen nonsensical authors. Chapter two of my thesis concentrates entirely on the linguistic aspects of literary nonsense. Here I touch upon the devices used to obtain a nonsensical effect and examine the linguistic levels on which nonsense occurs. In the third and fourth chapter I move towards an analysis of translation theory and how its principles may be applied when attempting to translate works of nonsense. My main concern is an examination of fragments of literary nonsense and their translations, from which I draw conclusions about what elements should necessarily be taken into account when translating nonsense. The last section of my dissertation is a compilation of fragments of works by selected authors of English nonsense and their Polish translations, of which some possess several versions.
