The main aim of this paper is to show the analogies between Witkacy’s juvenile dramas (like Menagerie, for instance) and Surrealist theories of André Breton. The analysis indicates clearly that the crucial Surrealist notions of "the marvelous", anti-rationality or "free juxtaposition", connected to the state of childhood and utilizing the "conversational" or "theatrical" imagery of the dialogue, have the ludicrous genesis in young Witkacy’s, Jarry-like texts.
