Teaching languages in public education aims usually at some objectively measurable achievements, such as winning a competition or getting high grades. It has been demonstrated that subjective sense of achievement can be an important indicator of actual success. Many psychological factors, such as anxiety or low self-esteem, that tend to inhibit students' language learning potential, are mediated by low sense of achievement. Therefore, one of the tasks of a language teacher should be creating opportunities for each student, even one with difficulties, of experiencing communication success in the classroom.
