The article’ s main idea deals with film as a dominant paradigm of storytelling -
not only in the sphere of audiovisuality - but also in all contemporary art and
culture. Film is just the most common pattern of statement - that is the condition
of culture after the iconic turn (ikonische wendung). In the modern (postmodern)
world film (in terms of movie language) has “expanded its wings” and
covered the area of commercials, politics and entertainment (e.g. in computer
games). Film is nowadays the most popular way of using culture – each of us
can be e viewer as well as a creator (with the little help of the simple electronic
equipment).
Film appears to be a hegemon of contemporary and future narrativity -
thanks to the similarity to the human way of seeing the reality and to its emotional
influence. One of the streams in the humanities’ discours links film with
the religious experience and - in this way - tries to explain the power of the art
of moving image.
What are the perspectives of education in the context of the movie-digital
era? In authors opinion the film - as a specific language of storytelling, showing
and even poetry speech - should be included into the area of the school subject
connected with culture - especially Polish. Nevertheless - this is the film that
gives the literature another life.
