Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia prezentym jako filozoficzny pogląd na istnienie czasu oraz poglądy św. Augustyna w tym kontekście. Prezentyzm jako stanowisko cierpi na problem trywialności, polegający na trywialnej prawdziwości lub nieprawdziwości tego twierdzenia w zależności od użycia języka zwierającego określenia czasowe. Rozwiązaniem tego problemu wydaje się dołączenie tezy o istnieniu upływu czasu do podstawowego stanowiska prezentyzmu. Porównanie poglądów św. Augustyna z takim sformułowaniem prezentyzmu wypada niejednoznacznie, gdyż można u niego znaleźć zdania zarówno potwierdzające istnienie realnego upływu czasu, jak i mówiące o jego nierealności.

This article discusses presentism as a philosophical view on the existence of time and the ideas of St. Augustine in the context of presentism. Presentism as a position suffers from the problem of triviality, i.e. the trivial truthfulness or falsehood of its main claim depending on the use of language containing certain time-related terms. The solution to this problem seems to be to add the thesis about the existence of the passage of time to the basic idea of presentism. However, the comparison between St. Augustine's original thought and such a formulation of presentism turns out to be ambiguous, since in his work we can find sentences both confirming the existence of the real passage of time and talking about its unreality.
